President Joe Biden visited the POET Bioprocessing ethanol plant, the nation’s largest ethanol producer, in Menlo, Iowa, on Tuesday. This is Biden’s first stop in Iowa since the 2020 election.

About 60 attendees, from invitations coordinated by the White House, attended the event. About 100 media members also attended.

During the visit, Biden announced the Environment Protection Agency will allow ethanol in the summer months. “But I’m here today because homegrown biofuels have a role to play right now as we work to get prices under control and reduce costs on your families,” Biden said.

Biden also discussed infrastructure issues and how to aid rural communities.
