Ash Wednesday masses took place at the Newman Center in Iowa City on March 2, 2022.
Ash Wednesday is a Christian holy day that marks the first day of Lent. University of Iowa students and members of the Iowa City community came to the Newman Center to attend an Ash Wednesday mass to receive a cross mark on their foreheads.
The Newman Center hosted a mass every hour so students could stop by before going to their next class.
