Iowa City man accused of breaking into home, screaming at woman

An Iowa City man has been accused of entering a home without permission and screaming at the women inside.

Jason Northam, 47, 951 Dover St., was charged March 11 with second-degree burglary and violation of a no contact protective order.

According to the arrest affidavit, Northam gained entry to the residence through the garage door. Northam stated that he wanted to watch the Big Ten wrestling tournament but did not have cable.

Northam had previously been denied access to the home by residents because of his alleged level of intoxication.

Once inside, Northam screamed at residents while throwing items around the home, causing the inhabitants to fear for their safety. Officers noted that Northam had bloodshot eyes and smelled of alcohol.

Second-degree burglary is a Class-C felony.
