Herky the Hawk is celebrating his 75th birthday this year, and was honored at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City on Sept. 16, 2023.
For gameday, Herky started the morning at the President’s tailgate and then warmed up at the Hawkeye Track and Indoor Facilities with the spirit squad and band. Following, Herky prepared for the game and rode out onto the field before kickoff. After the game, Herky rode around to surrounding tailgates and interacted with fans.
