A North Liberty man has been charged with assaulting a peace officer with a weapon. 

Corey David Coulson, 45, 105 Juniper Ct., North Liberty, was charged Sept. 2 with assaulting a peace officer with a weapon. 

According to the arrest affidavit, Coulson is accused of approaching police officers with a knife and a hammer after they responded to a call at his home. Coulson refused to stop upon officers commands, according to the affidavit, and was tased and taken to the hospital for evaluation.
