Iowa City City Council met Tuesday evening to discuss misperceptions regarding the infection of ash trees from the emerald ash borer bug. The emerald ash borer bug has been in Iowa since 2002, but recently the infection of ash trees has been spreading faster than ever. Residences fear their neighborhood will lose its beauty and property value with the removal of the ash trees.  The City proposes to plant 3 times the number of trees that are being removed to upkeep the neighborhoods. The council was unable to create a solid plan of action because of the complexity of the issue.
