The Iowa/Stanford Rose Bowl is fewer than 48 hours away … Thank the lawd.

LOS ANGELES — I’m officially ready for No. 5 Iowa and No. 6 Stanford to play. These last few days have been a lot of fun, but we’re running out of things to talk about. In my naïveté, I thought the talking season would be over after the first game. Talking season No. 2 is well underway.
It’s been a lot of fun, and the only super interesting note I have for you is that while we were waiting to interview UI President Bruce Harreld Dec. 30 (that story is linked below), we were hanging out in the lobby of the team hotel, where there is a life-size gingerbread house.
Now, because, you know, it’s after Christmas, and because of the constant loop of off-the-beaten-trail Christmas songs the beautiful media hotel has played, I’m pretty over Christmas. But this gingerbread house was pretty cool. If you’re in town and find yourself in the LA Live area around the Staples Center, I recommend checking it out, because when else are you going to have a chance to see a 1,300-pound gingerbread house in a place that doesn’t get snow?

I apologize for not getting a podcast out before now, but we’ve been go-go-go, and just got to it. We, meaning Charlie (who makes his host début) and our friend Austin Bramley of KRUI. The sports guys over there do some good work, so tune into 89.7 if you’re looking for the radio call-in Iowa City on Jan. 1. Here’s the podcast:
What’s Thursday
Not a whole lot. We’re recording another podcast, which will be a lot of fun. We’ll have a few slide shows up, and that’ll basically be it. There aren’t any formal media availabilities, but if I see someone noteworthy walking around when I’m out and about Dec. 31 (have to get those steps in), I’ll be sure to interview her or him.
Maybe I’ll see Leonardo DiCaprio with an Iowa shirt, who knows?
