Photos: John Green visits the University of Iowa

At least 900 University of Iowa students and community members filled the Iowa Memorial Union’s Main Lounge to listen to a lecture by John Green, a bestselling author, YouTuber, and philanthropist, on the evening of Thursday, April 18, 2024.

John Green was joined by Paige Lewis, an assistant professor at the University, as well as two other student interviewers. He discussed his ongoing work to eliminate tuberculosis in Sierra Leone, he and his brother Hank’s YouTube “Crash Course” videos shown in classrooms, and the banning of his books. He took audience questions in the second half and held a small meet-and-greet after his show for select students, many of whom were a part of the Partners in Health campus organization.

John Green spoke at 7:30 and lectured for a little over an hour.
