Beth Goetz was introduced as the new Iowa Director of Athletics Chair at a press conference at Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Tuesday. Goetz previously held the position in an interim role.
Goetz is the first woman in the Big Ten conference to be hired into the role.
She was officially hired on Jan. 18 and replaced Gary Barta, who previously held the position for 17 years.
The Iowa women’s softball team and field hockey team were in attendance. Iowa women’s basketball associate head coach Jan Jensen was also in attendance.
Goetz will oversee budgeting, the employment of coaches and establish practice schedules.
