University of Iowa officials have received a report of a sexual assault that took place Thursday evening in an east side residence hall, according to an email sent to UI students from the Department of Public Safety.

“Indications are the assault was perpetrated by an acquaintance,” the email said.

No other information about the incident was provided.

The email also encouraged victims of sexual assault to seek medical attention and provided links to resources for any students who may need to reach out.
