University of Iowa officials have received a report of a sexual assault that occurred on Dec. 2, according to an email sent to UI students from the Department of Public Safety.

The email said the assault occurred in an east side residence hall, and it was indicated that the perpetrator was an acquaintance of the victim.

The email provided no further information on the incident.
