Police report early morning robbery

Just before 1 a.m. Tuesday, Iowa City police responded to a report of a strong-arm robbery that had occurred in the area of area of 2722 Wayne Ave.

According to a press release from the city, the victim reported being pushed onto the ground and robbed before being robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash. There was no report of any weapons displayed.

The suspect, whom police were unable to located at the time, was described as a black male in his late 20s or early 30s with a medium build, very short to no hair, and medium-dark skin complexion.

Strong-arm robbery is defined as a crime of larceny committed by using a weapon in combination with threat of force, actual force, or intimidation.
