Rose Bowl: Iowa-Stanford Predictions

Rose+Bowl%3A+Iowa-Stanford+Predictions

Football reporter Danny Payne offers his prediction on No. 5 Iowa’s matchup with No. 6 Stanford in the Rose Bowl.

PASADENA, Calif. — How’s it going, folks? It’s finally here, thank the lawd. Our exams are right here for your reading pleasure, so take a look. Charlie’s out doing some other things right now, so we’ll update this with his predictions once he gets up to the press box with the best view in the best country on the planet. America.

Danny Payne, Pregame editor

I’ve been going back and forth, but I’m taking Iowa. I think the Hawkeyes will do enough to keep Christian McCaffrey and Company at bay and do enough on offense to send the Cardinal back north empty-handed. Prediction: Iowa 28, Stanford 24

Pick to Click: Jaleel Johnson. Johnson has been really good for Iowa this season, and I think he does a good job against one of the best offensive lines in the country this afternoon.

Charlie Green, football reporter

Iowa wins this game if it can extend drives, which means converting on third down. But the Hawks have struggled doing so in recent games, and with that in mind, I think Stanford wears them down in this one. Whichever team wins up front comes out on top. Prediction: Stanford 21, Iowa 17.

Pick to click: George Kittle. The playmaking machine still flies under the radar, meaning that he doesn’t draw as much attention as his big-play ability warrants. His potential to create mismatches downfield will be huge for the Hawks today.
