CHICAGO — The Big Ten media days have officially ended, which means actual football is coming soon.

After two days of Big Ten coaches and players discussing the upcoming season, The Daily Iowan gathered the best quotes from the second half of the event.

Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh on the Wolverines reaching their goals

“That’s what we’re trying to do better, trying to do more, focus on that day-to-day. I think it’s good right now. I think it’s good. I think it’s tight. But like an anaconda, you want to just keep squeezing it tighter and making it better, and that’s where our football team is.”

Northwestern head coach Pat Fitzgerald on Director of Football Performance Jay Hooten

“Jay and I have been together for a long time. I probably talk to him more than I talk to my wife, Stacy, which is a little awkward and weird at times, but it’s critically important.”

Iowa’s Toren Young and Nate Stanley on Stanley’s bloody nose in the huddle

“I’ve been in the huddle with him where he has blood running down his nose, and he just looks calm and cool. That toughness is contagious.” -Young

“I think I know what he’s talking about. Yeah, it was a Friday practice. You know, we kind of have a no-contact full-speed practice, running through plays. I think I had to go farmer’s blow or something and my nose started going. But you know, you can’t let anything stop you. Tried to do my best to plug it up, but it was probably pretty gross.” -Stanley

Wisconsin head coach Paul Chryst on his quarterbacks

“We’re going to have one — we’re going to have four.”

Harbaugh on his comments about controversy following former Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer

“No context you should know about. I don’t think it was anything that was anything new or anything of a bombshell. It’s things that many of you all understand and have written about.”

Wisconsin’s Jonathan Taylor on a potential Heisman Trophy push

“It’d be an honor to even be mentioned to be a finalist there. You look at the greats who have won it, and to even be mentioned with those guys, it’d definitely be an honor.”
