Democrat Lisa Green-Douglass has won today’s special election for Johnson County supervisor, defeating Chris Hoffman, who ran under no party.

Green-Douglass, a North Liberty resident and Spanish-language trainer, won 2,015 votes over Hoffman’s 1,263 votes, or 61 percent to 38 percent, according to county data. Hoffman sits on the North Liberty City Council.

Write-in candidates received 17 votes.

The county staged the election following the resignation of Terrence Neuzil, who snagged a county administrative job in Michigan.

Green-Douglass will fill out the remainder of Neuzil’s term, which runs through the rest of the year.

Total voter turnout was low at 3,295 voters, or 3.81 percent.
