Hawkeye divers set to compete in World Championship trials

Iowa divers Deidre Freeman and Veronica Rydze will compete in the synchronized diving and 1-meter events at the USA Diving 2011 World Championship trials. The event will take place Thursday through May 15 at the Morcom Aquatics Center in Tallahassee, Fla.

The 3-meter synchro preliminary and semifinal rounds will be held Friday, while the 1-meter preliminary and semifinal will take place Saturday. Final rounds of both events are scheduled for May 15.

Both competed in the NCAA Championships on March 17-18, where Freeman earned All-America honors on the 1- and 3-meter boards, and Rydze was honored as an All-American in the 1 meter.

Rydze placed 13th overall on the 1 meter, and Freeman placed 15th and 10th overall on the 1 and 3 meter, respectively.
