Authorities have issued a warrant for the arrest of an Iowa City man on a robbery charge.

William Porter, 42, 529 Mineral Point Lane, is suspected of first-degree robbery occurring on Jan. 7.

According to the affidavit, Porter went into Romantix in Iowa City and committed an armed robbery, pointing a handgun at a cashier and demanding money. The cashier gave Porter some money, the affidavit said, and Porter also grabbed and stole some products from shelves as he left.

Porter was identified as the suspect after suspect images became public, the affidavit said, including tips from two ex-girlfriends, both of whom mother Porter’s children.

Pictures of Porter also matched the suspect images, the affidavit said, further confirming his identity.

First-degree robbery is a Class-B felony.
