Decades of research revealing the dangers of tanning in an ultraviolet radiation bed still hasn’t stopped many frequent customers from using them.
Some University of Iowa students actually believe the tanning beds have a positive benefit to their lives.
“I usually go in to get a base tan,” freshman Alyssa Jepson said. “Either if it’s warm outside that’s when I usually do it to make sure I don’t burn on vacation. The people I know that are going away for vacation for spring break, they’re definitely going tanning.”
Going tanning just to get a base tan is not safe, according to research from the Mayo Clinic.
