Baseball releases spring schedule

The Iowa baseball team released its 2014 schedule on Tuesday, according to a press release. The Hawkeyes will compete against 16 NCAA Tournament teams from 2013 and will play 22 games at Banks Field.

The Hawkeyes will open the season at Austin Peay for the second-straight season on Feb. 14-16 in Tennessee. Last year Austin Peay was 47-15, earning its third-straight Ohio Valley Tournament title and an NCAA berth.

Iowa will travel to Port Charlotte, Fla., Deland, Fla., Manhattan, Kan., in February and early March before a five-game home stretch against Mount Mercy. Two days later, the team will face Nebraska and Bradley at home.

Iowa will finish the regular season with a three-game series in West Lafayette, Ind., against Purdue. And the top-six teams will qualify for the 2014 Big Ten Tournament, which will be held in Omaha May 21-25.
