North Liberty man allegedly choked his wife

A North Liberty man allegedly grabbed his wife’s neck and choked her until she could not breathe.

Demitrious Williams, 33, was accused Aug. 22 of domestic assault impeding breathing or circulation with bodily injury.

North Liberty police officials were dispatched to Williams’ residence after receiving a report of domestic assault. According the police complaint, police officials determined an altercation occurred between Williams and his wife.

Officials found that Williams’ wife had a scratch along her left shoulder and neck area, as well as a small scratch to her nose that was still bleeding when officials arrived. She told officials that Williams grabbed her around the throat with his right hand and choked her, the complaint said.

She reportedly told Williams that she couldn’t breathe, and he told her “that was the point,” the police complaint said. Williams was not injured during the altercation.

Domstic assault impeding breathing or circulation with bodily injury is a class-D felony.
