Trial for man accused of murder continued

The trial for a Johnson County man accused of first-degree murder has been reset.

Brandon Brown, 27, is accused of shooting the 30-year-old Donelle Lindsey on June 22 near the intersection of Melrose Avenue and Mormon Trek Boulevard following an argument between the two, according to police.

Lindsey was moved to the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics and was pronounced dead from the wounds. Brown reportedly left Iowa City after the shooting and was found on Aug. 21 in a basement in Cook County, Ill.

On Friday at his pretrial conference Brown waived his right to a speedy trial and moved for an order of continuance, according to online documents. The motion was not resisted. His trial was originally set for April 16.
