Iowa tracksters return six champs from Last Chance meet

The Iowa track and field program brought home six titles from the Iowa State Last Chance Qualifier Meet on March 2.

Senior Josh Larney finished first in both the men’s 60-meter dash and the long jump. The native of Cleveland recorded a personal best time of 6.74 in the preliminaries before clocking a time of 6.75 in the finals. He had a leap of 24-3 in the long jump.

Ethan Holmes also placed first in the men’s 200 meters with a time of 21.27. The senior finished second in the men’s 60-meter hurdles with a time of 7.84.

Khanishah Williams grabbed the title in the women’s high jump with a personal best-jump of 5-11¼. The jump is third highest in school history. Klyvens Delaunay took the men’s triple-jump crown with a leap of 51-2¾.

Senior Ryan Weir set the second-best mark in program history in the men’s 800 meters with a time of 1:49.11 to place first. Junior Nathan Prom finished second with a time of 1:50.91.

Freshman Kaitlyn Nelson and junior Adrianne Alexia finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the women’s 800 meters. Nelson recorded a personal best time of 2:09.58, which is sixth fastest all-time at Iowa, and Alexia recorded a time of 2:13.65.

The NCAA indoor meet will be held on March 8-9 in Fayetteville, Ark.
