Hawkeye tracksters have last chance to qualify for NCAA’s

The Iowa track and field program has one last chance at the Iowa State Qualifier this weekend to qualify for the NCAA meet in Fayetteville, Ark., on March 8.

Adrianne Alexia, Kaitlyn Nelson, and Khanishah Williams, will represent the women’s squad, and Josh Larney, Ethan Holmes, Klyvens Delaunay, Keaton Rickels, Ryan Weir, Nathan Prom, Tevin-Cee Mincy, Kyle Reid, and Mitch Wolff will compete for the men.

Iowa has a few athletes within striking distance of making the mark for NCAA’s.

Hawkeye senior Jordan Mullen has qualified for the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 7.70 seconds, good enough for eighth best in the country. Holmes’ time of 7.83 seconds in the same event ranks 24th in the NCAA.

Senior Larney’s long jump of 24 feet, 10 inches ranks 21st in the nation.

In order to qualify for the NCAAs, athletes need to place in the top 12 nationally.
