Five Iowa field-hockey players earned All-Big Ten honors, the conference announced on Thursday.
Senior captains Jessica Barnett and Kathleen McGraw both earned first team All-Big Ten. Fellow seniors Sarah Drake and Geena Lesiak and junior Marike Stribos earned second team All-Big Ten selections.
The last time Iowa had five all-conference selections was during the 2008 season.
“I am very happy to have five Iowa student-athletes represented on the teams,” head coach Tracey Griesbaum said in a release. “We are a very balanced team, and this proved it.”
Barnett was one of three unanimous choices to the 12-person first team. The other two were Michigan’s Rachael Mack and Penn State’s Kelsey Amy. The selection is Barnett’s third of her career; she earned a second-team honor in 2010 and a first-team selection last season.
This selection for McGraw is her second. She was selected to the all-conference second team last season. Drake’s 2012 pick was the third of her career; she earned second team All-Big Ten in 2010 and first team in 2011.
The selections for Lesiak and Stribos are the first of their careers.
