Iowa City School District officials dismissed school one hour early Thursday afternoon because of the extreme heat.
School will again be let out two hours early today for the same reason, according to the School District website.
The Daily Iowan previously reported that these record-high temperatures have made this summer as the hottest summer in Iowa City.
