Local man charged with assault on peace officer

An Iowa City man was charged with assault on a peace officer after throwing urine in a doctor’s face.

Stephen Shively, 55, 943 Spring Ridge Drive, was seen by a doctor at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics last week when he became irritated and threw urine in a medical doctor’s face, according to a police complaint.

A preliminary hearing is set for April 16 for his assault on a peace officer charge and others. Assault on a peace officer is a serious misdemeanor, punishable by up to one year in jail and a maximum fine of $1,875.
