The Iowa football team will honor American veterans before its game against Michigan on Nov. 5, according to a release.

Veterans Day is Nov. 11.

A public-address announcement will be read prior to kickoff at Kinnick Stadium, an unspecified tribute to nine fallen members of the military from the state of Iowa will be displayed on the scoreboard, and a military fly-over will accompany the national anthem.

"Veterans Day is a special occasion for all of us," Athletics Director Gary Barta said in the release. "We’re hoping our pregame message lets all of those veterans, who have served and continue to serve our country, know how much we appreciate what they’ve done, and continue to do, in order to keep us all out of harm’s way."

While the most recent release didn’t elaborate on what the scoreboard display will entail, the Hawkeyes announced in August that they planned to specifically honor fallen Navy SEAL Jon Tumilson. The Rockford, Iowa, native was killed in Afghanistan on Aug. 6; a video of his pet dog lying by his casket during his memorial service has been viewed over 6.5 million times on YouTube.
