Granta magazine reading at Prairie Lights

Prairie Lights will host Granta magazine’s new issue, Granta 116: 10 Years Later, at 7 p.m. Sept. 6. Writers ZZ Packer, Horacio Castellanos Moya, Bina Shah, and Kevin Bloom will present their work regarding how the world changed after the 9/11 tragedy.

“Naïveté has been destroyed forever,” said Shah, an International Writing Program participant from Pakistan.

Shah will present some of her work at the reading.

The presentation is meant to inspire open communication and help put in perspective how people in countries around the world were affected by the attacks.

“Pakistan has always looked up to the United States,” Shah said. “But we didn’t understand your policies. We need you to take us with you.”

IWP members said they hope people will reflect upon how peoples’ lives have changed in the 10 years since the planes crashed.
