Ex-UI employee charged with theft

The University of Iowa police have arrested a former UI employee after he allegedly pawned university property.

Jeremy Olson, 33, 2401 Friendship St., was charged April 19 with second-degree theft.

According to a complaint, Olson allegedly removed university property from Seashore Hall while employed and failed to return it once he left.

The report said Olson then pawned the items for a loan at a local pawn shop.

Olson admitted the property belonged to the UI, and he should have returned it, according to the complaint.

Online court records indicate Olson has faced previous criminal charges, including burglary and theft.
