Tough road test ahead for men’s tennis

The No. 60 Iowa men’s tennis team (8-8, 2-4) will look to get over the .500 mark as it enters tough road tests against No. 57 Michigan State (15-7, 1-6) on Saturday, and No. 27 Michigan (11-8, 4-3) April 17. Both matches will be played at noon.

The Hawkeyes need to rebound if the team hopes to reach its goal of placing in the top-four of the Big Ten standings by the season’s end.

The Hawkeyes are coming off a bitter loss at home to Northwestern last weekend, and they are most likely hoping to channel their energy into the matches this weekend. Head coach Steve Houghton said in a release that the Hawks have their work cut out for them this weekend.

“I fully expect these to be challenging matches, just like all of them.” Houghton said. “Michigan has been ranked as high as the top 10, and Michigan State is a much improved team that also was ranked pretty high. It will be a good test for our team.”
