Men’s gymnasts learn NCAA qualifier opponents

The Iowa men’s gymnastics team learned on Tuesday who its competition will be in the NCAA Qualifier on April 14 in Columbus, Ohio. The No. 11 Hawkeyes will face No. 2 Stanford, No. 3 California, No. 6 Michigan, No. 7 Ohio State, and No. 10 Nebraska.

The Hawkeyes have faced every team in the qualifier except for Stanford, where Hawkeye head coach JD Reive was an assistant for seven seasons. The top-three teams and top-three gymnasts in each event will qualify for the NCAA championships the following two days, also in Columbus.

Reive said in a release he was excited to officially learn of the team’s qualification.

“My goal coming in here this year was to put us in a position to make it to the team finals,” he said. “This is the first step toward that goal.”
