Men’s tennis successful in sunshine state

The Iowa’s men’s tennis team traveled to Florida for spring break, leaving with wins over Florida Atlantic and Central Florida and a loss to Southern Florida. The team scheduled the trip in order to acclimate the players to playing outdoors after the indoor season — a common practice among teams that are located in the Midwest.

The Black and Gold started off the trip with a 5-2 win over Central Florida on March 13, but the Hawks were defeated, 7-0, by Southern Florida the following day. Iowa capped off the trip with a 6-1 win over Florida Atlantic in Orlando on March 17. The trip saw many roster moves and changes, which can be attributed to preparation for the upcoming Big Ten season.

Iowa will need all the momentum it can get as when it hosts No. 4 Ohio State on Friday and Penn State on March 27 at the Hawkeye Tennis & Recreation Complex.
