Willis named Big Ten Player of the Week

Following a tremendous offensive performance over the weekend, Iowa senior Trevor Willis has been named the Big Ten Player of the Week. The weekly honor is the first of his career.

In four games against Georgia State and Mississippi State, Willis batted .647 (11-for-17) and posted a .667 on-base percentage. The center fielder also stole three bases and scored six runs.

Willis had back-to-back four-hit games against Mississippi State, leading the Hawkeyes to two victories over the Bulldogs.

Iowa (4-5) went 3-1 on the weekend, and the victories over Mississippi State signal the first time in program history the Hawkeyes were able to collect two wins against an SEC opponent in the same season.

“We are happy to see Trevor earn recognition for his performances this weekend in helping lead us to three wins against two very good baseball teams,” head coach Jack Dahm said in a release.
