Men’s golf finishes second at Big 4 Match Play

The No. 10 Iowa men’s golf team teed off its spring season in Scottsdale, Ariz., on Feb. 5, finishing second in the Big 4 Match Play Challenge.

The squad first took on Drake and won 5-1. Senior Vince India had a terrific round, shooting a 68 (3 under).

Jed Dirksen played well in his first performance with Iowa. The junior carded 69 against both Drake and Iowa State, winning both of his matchups.

This was the first time since the opening match of the 2010 fall season that the Hawkeyes didn’t claim first place. The squad had previously recorded four-straight challenge victories.

Iowa came out flat against Iowa State; only Dirksen and junior Brad George won their matchups.

The Hawkeyes will next compete in the Big Ten Match Play Championships in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., on Friday and Saturday.
