Hoopster Archie out 4-7 weeks

In a release sent on Monday, Iowa men’s basketball head coach Todd Lickliter announced his team will likely start its 2009-10 season without the services of junior Devon Archie.

Archie will be sidelined for four to seven weeks because of an injury he suffered to his right shoulder during a team practice on Oct. 17.

The Hawkeyes will open their season on Nov. 15 at home against Texas-San Antonio, four weeks after Archie’s injury.

The 6-9 junior is a transfer from Vincennes Community College in Indiana. While playing there, Archie averaged 6.8 points, six rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per contest.

Before the season officially tips off, the Hawkeyes will hold two games in Carver-Hawkeye Arena — an open scrimmage scheduled approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the Iowa-Indiana football game on Oct. 31, and an exhibition contest against Marian University on Nov. 8 at 12:30 p.m.
