Soccer loses two

The Iowa soccer team dropped a pair of conference road matches over the weekend, falling to 8-6 overall, 0-4 in the Big Ten.

The Hawkeyes lost to No. 25 Ohio State, 3-2, on Oct. 9. Iowa led after a goal in the 20th minute by sophomore forward Alyssa Cosnek. After the Hawks allowed two Buckeye goals, sophomore midfielder Morgan Showalter scored to tie the game at halftime.

Ohio State scored the eventual game-winner in the 54th minute.

Although Iowa racked up 16 shots in the match, Penn State routed the Hawkeyes, 4-0, on Sunday. Iowa remains in last place in the Big Ten.

Sophomore goalkeeper Emily Moran made seven saves in the two games to climb into fourth place in career saves at 132.

The Hawkeyes will host Illinois in a night game at the Iowa Soccer Complex at 7 p.m. Saturday.
