At the Jan. 29-30 Razorback Invitational, the Hawkeye women squared off against five top-10 teams, tallied 16 team points, and finished 11th among the 12 teams.

The most impressive performances came from junior Elexis Guster, and freshman Briana Guillory. Both Hawkeyes had their college-best performances in the 400 meters. Guster continues to be one of Iowa’s top performers, with her third-place finish, she moves to first in the Big Ten and 11th nationally. Guillory’s sixth-place time ranks seventh all-time at Iowa, fourth in the Big Ten.

Guillory was equally impressive in the 200 meters, finishing in 11th place, and freshman Taylor Chapman finished 25th.

Sophomore Jahisha Thomas finished 11th in the 60-meter hurdles. Her 11th-place finish added to the list of Iowa personal bests, and her time of 8.58 stands seventh all-time at Iowa.

Thomas also competed in the long jump, finishing 14th. A pair of sophomore comrades joined Thomas in the long jump, Jalynn Roberts-Lewis finishing 17th and Heaven Chandler taking 18th.

Other notable finishes included graduate student Khanishah Williams fourth place in the high jump, senior Lake Kwaza was ninth in the 60 meters, and junior Mahnee Watts finishged 12th in the 800 meters.

Joining Watts, senior Kaitlyn Nelson finished 19th, and junior Jordyn Sindt finished 21st in the 800 meters.

The Hawkeyes closed the meet with a season best in the 1,600-meter relays. The women’s tandem of senior MonTayla Holder, Guster, Guillory, and junior Alexis Hernandez clocked 3:40.24 to finish sixth.

“We expect them to do more as the season progresses, but it was fun to see the men’s and women’s 4×4 put up big marks that give them a chance to compete for the Big Ten championship in that event,” Director of Track and Field Joey Woody said in a release.

Iowa will return to action at the Meyo Invitational in South Bend, Indiana, on Friday and Saturday.
