The board discussed how Iowa City is close to becoming a Blue Zones certified community.

The Blue Zones Project is a community well-being improvement initiative that aims to make healthy choices easier through changes to environment, policy, and social networks.

Four schools have joined the project so far: Wood Elementary, Mann Elementary, Lincoln Elementary, and Longfellow Elementary. Other schools are close to achieving designation.
