Iowa City man chokes his girlfriend

Authorities have accused an Iowa City man of choking a woman.

Andrew Irvin, 26, was charged with domestic assault, impeding air/blood flow, on Mar. 2.

According to online court documents, officers responded to call about a domestic assault.

The woman was crying, visibly upset, and scared. She reportedly had a cut on her hand and redness on her neck.

She said she was arguing with Irvin when he grabbed her around the neck, choked her, and said, “I’m going to kill you.”

Irvin denied choking her.

Domestic assault, impeding air/blood flow, is a Class-D felony.
