Area woman accused of three-month long fraud

Authorities have accused a Coralville woman of committing a three-month fraud.

Crystal Taylor, 23, was charged Feb. 14, 2012, with unauthorized use of a credit card not exceeding $10,000.

Iowa City officers received a report of credit-card fraud in which Taylor allegedly made 93 unauthorized transactions over a three-month period.

Two of the transactions were paid to Taylor’s iWireless account, and 74 were paid to the In-Zone, where Taylor signed her name to the receipts. An In-Zone employee said Taylor came into the store numerous times, said she didn’t have the physical card, only the card number.

Taylor is known by the reported victim, because she has a family member employed by him. The purchases totaled $4,970.60.

Unauthorized use of a credit card not exceeding $10,000 is a Class-D felony.
