Iowa City police investigate three reported sexual assaults in taxis

The Iowa City police are investigating three reported sexual assaults on adult women that occurred while they were taxi passengers.

During the three reported incidents, the non-white male driver[s] of the cabs reportedly made unwanted sexual advances toward the women.

The first incident was reported to the department on Jan. 15 at roughly 3 a.m. when the victim was picked up by an unknown taxi company. The second incident was reported 10 days later at 4:17 a.m. The third incident was reported Sunday at 12:30 a.m. after the victim was picked up by American Taxi Cab. All three women escaped the cabs and reported the drivers to authorities.

The police are asking for the public’s assistance, and the Iowa City Area Crime Stoppers is offering a $1000 cash reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect.
