A new student has been appointed to help represent the University of Iowa students at the Iowa City City Council.
Kasra Zarei, a resident of Coralville and a UI freshman, was appointed as the UI Student Government City Council vice liaison during Tuesday’s meeting.
The 6-0 vote came in light of the absence of Councilor Michelle Payne.
Zarei, who will serve until May 1, 2014, will replace Alec Bramel, who serve as the current student liaison for the City Council.
