Man charged after allegedly stepping on woman’s neck

A local man was accused of stomping on his girlfriend’s neck.

Calvin Battle, 33, was charged Wednesday with domestic assault impeding air/blood and causing bodily injury.

According to a University of Iowa police complaint, Battle hit the victim in the ear, stomped on her neck, and put his hands around the victim’s neck and squeezed.

The victim told officials that she felt pressure on her throat and was not able to breathe, the complaint said. She also said that while Battle was strangling her, he told her he “didn’t care if he killed her.”

According to the complaint, the victim told officials that her neck hurt and that it hurt to turn her head.

Domestic assault impeding air/blood and causing bodily injury is a Class-D felony.
