Man found with meth pipe

An Iowa man faces drug charges after a methamphetamine pipe was allegedly located in his car.

Albert Blades, 51, was charged Thursday with a controlled-substance violation and possession of a controlled substance.

North Liberty police officials stopped Blades’ vehicle for a traffic violation and a reportedly located a methamphetamine pipe in the vehicle. Police officials asked Blades to step out of the vehicle, and he allegedly admitted to having marijuana and methamphetamine in his pocket.

During a search of the vehicle, officials located a digital scale on the passenger seat and a sunglass case in the passenger door. The sunglass case reportedly contained a bag with approximately 32 grams of crystal methamphetamine.

Two other small bags were allegedly located in a cigarette pack and contained approximately three grams of crystal methamphetamine. Blades reportedly admitted that the methamphetamine belonged to him.

Controlled substance violation is a Class-B felony. Possession of a controlled substance is a serious misdemeanor.
