Women’s tennis to compete at ITA tournament

Shelby Talcott and Ruth Seaborne, ranked No. 58 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association preseason doubles poll, are one of the 32 teams who have earned a bid to compete in the All-American Championships.

The prequalifying tournament will be held Saturday. In order to advance to the qualifying rounds, which will take place Oct. 2-3, Talcott and Seaborne must win three matches this weekend.

The prequalifying matches will be held on the campus of UCLA and the Los Angeles Tennis Center. Qualifying and main draw matches will be held at Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif. After qualifying rounds, the main draw matches will take place on Oct. 4-7.

Seaborne will also compete as one of the 64 singles competitors. She started her singles season with a 2-1 record at the Wolverine Invitational, defeating No. 49 Alexandra Cercone of Florida.

Draws for the All-American Championship will be released on today. Fans can follow tournament brackets and live scoring will be made available at www.itatennis.com.
