Local man accused of not registering as a sex offender

An Iowa City man has been accused of failing to appear for a sex-offender check-in.

Jason Natcone, 37, 423 Highway 1 W. No. 11, was charged Nov. 1, 2011, with four counts of a sex-offender violation.

According to a Johnson County Sheriff’s Office complaint, as a tier three registered sex offender, Natcone is required to appear in person at the Sheriff’s Office to verify relevant information every three months.

Natcone failed to check in with the Sheriffs Office during two verifications — October 2011 and January 2012. Natcone told police he has lived in Wisconsin since October 2011, adding he had moved back two days prior.

During an investigation, police officials discovered Natcone failed to register a vehicle, the complaint said.

A sex-offender registration violation is an aggravated misdemeanor.
