An area man was charged with third-offense OWI March 31.

According to an Iowa City police report, Brandon Meade of Oxford was charged March 31 with third-offense OWI.

Meade was reportedly involved in a single-car accident; when police officers arrived, he reportedly had slurred speech, red-bloodshot watery eyes, and smelled of alcohol.

Meade admitted to drinking a "12 pack" at Old Roy’s bar in Oxford and attempting to drive home, according to the report. Meade reportedly had prior convictions of OWI in December 2003 and May 2004.
