The Iowa City City Council approved plans for a construction project on Gilbert Street.
The project includes trees, decorative lighting, and bike racks along the area that runs between Burlington Street and the railroad.
Estimated costs for the project is roughly $283,000, which will be funded through general-obligation bond proceeds.
