The Iowa softball team will travel to DeLand, Fla., to play in the Stetson Classic starting today.
With a season record of 8-9, the Hawkeyes are coming off of a 1-4 finish in the DeMarini Invitational on March 4-6, including losses to No. 10 California and No. 14 Stanford.
Iowa will begin the tournament against Liberty at 12:30 p.m. today. The Flames have won their last three games and have a record of 5-2. This will be the first meeting between Liberty and Iowa.
The Hawkeyes will play their second game today against host Stetson at 5:30 p.m. The Hatters have won four-straight games and stand at 10-8 overall. Iowa has a 5-4 record against the Hatters all-time.
On Saturday, the Hawkeyes will begin the day facing Liberty again at 10 a.m. Iowa will then have a quick turnaround and challenge Jackson State at 12:30 p.m.
The Tigers have won their last two games after recovering from a five-game losing streak. Jackson State is coming into the Stetson Classic with a record of 5-10. This will be the first meeting between the Hawkeyes and Tigers.
