Crawford’s golfers tied for 17th at Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Classic

The Iowa women’s golf team is tied for 17th with a total score of 312 after the first day of the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Classic. The 54-hole event is hosted by the College of Charleston at the Kiawah Island Golf Resort in Kiawah, S.C.

The team-low of 74 (2 over) was shot by senior Laura Cilek. She will begin today’s competition tied in 15th place individually out of 172 golfers. Senior Lauren Forbes was just behind Cilek at 76. She will enter today’s competition tied in 34th place.

Junior Chelsea Harris, Iowa’s leading scorer in the fall season, is tied for 78th with a score of 79.

“A couple of mental mistakes cost us several shots,” head coach Kelly Crawford said in a release.

“Laura and Lauren did a great job after a rough start. We need to make better decisions tomorrow and make a few more up and downs to move up in the field.”
